ABOUT NAHSHON

I am a Bold Leader who leads by example in every aspect of his life – as a husband to a Military Veteran and proud girl dad; as a Youth Pastor; as a CEO of a local nonprofit and small business owner; and as a mentor to over 3,000 youth throughout Duval County.
I know how to be tenacious to achieve goals. However, I'm wise enough to understand that it takes collaborative efforts and emotional intelligence to encourage others with different views to work together for the benefit of our community.
I have always been an active change agent. I served as the Sr. Class President of Edwards Water College. I was a member of ShadCo, the Sheriff Advisory Council.
After college and to this day, I work with inner city youth throughout Jacksonville as a mentor to over 3,000 youth and teach social and emotional learning through martial arts.
I'm also an active member of the Duval Executive Committee, Democratic Women Information Network, a former Precinct Captain, and have participated on numerous community committees.
My community work has been featured on News4Jax, Fox 30, & CBS 47. I was also featured in the film Fight Church as Cage Fighter and Senior Pastor.
When I am elected:
I will dedicate efforts to attract higher-paying employers to our local community; encourage training to enhance the skills of our local workforce to attain high-skill, high-wage employment; and provide capacity-building opportunities for current small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs, especially Veterans.
Additionally, through my personal experience of witnessing a loved one go through mental health challenges, I am an advocate for holistic health care. I will work with healthcare professionals, nonprofits, and the community to create pathways to accessible, affordable, and timely healthcare and wellness services.
I will also promote creative ways to increase housing inventory, reduce homelessness for military Vets, and renovate existing housing infrastructure for rent and purchase. I believe these measures will ultimately reduce the rent and housing cost burden while increasing home ownership.
Lastly, I will fight for safer communities. My plan for safer communities involves more than just advocating for a reduction of gun violence and responsible gun ownership. I believe the key is engaging youth by investing in community centers, job training, and fostering positive experiences through exposure and mentorship.
With your support, I will ensure the voices of our community are heard.
Together, we can ensure our community will thrive!
