BOLD LEADERSHIP
THAT WILL FIGHT
FOR JACKSONVILLE

MEET NAHSHON

SMALL BUSINESS OWNER | MAN OF FAITH |  COMMUNITY CHAMPION

Jacksonville is the city I love and call home. I’m originally from Syracuse, NY. In 1990 my step-father and mother decided it was time for a change. That was when my family relocated to Jacksonville.

I grew up in poverty. My stepfather was a hard worker. My mother struggled with mental health issues and substance abuse. Many say that a person becomes what they entertain. Therefore, I realized at an early age I had a choice to succumb to my environment or fight to be the best man I could be - I chose to FIGHT.

Through my faith, living a disciplined life, and surrounding myself with positive role models, I learned to be resilient and overcome life’s challenges. Because of the challenges I have experienced, I’m determined to make a difference in my community and in the lives of others.

I’m a husband to a 20+ year Military Veteran. So, I understand the challenges and fears that our Vets and their families face with mental health, homelessness, and supporting their spouses. I’m a proud girl dad and Youth Pastor who loves his children and share many of the concerns that other parents have over the safety and future of their children.

Additionally, I’m also a CEO of a local nonprofit and a small business owner who appreciates the contributions that small businesses have in driving our local economy and making our community unique. On the flip side, I’m well aware of the challenges that business owners have and the resources they often lack or are not aware of that could make the difference in them striving or closing their doors.

I believe that my life has led me to this moment. I was positioned in Jacksonville and molded to be a BOLD Leader to facilitate lasting transformation in this community.
